Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over new material concerning hyperbolas and reviewed old material including parabolas, circles, and ellipses."
"I taught the student how to multiply matrices and how to find the solution to a 3x3 and 4x4 system of linear equations using matrices."
"The student and I started our session by going over old HW that he had not yet had a chance to revisit. We then continued going over the review sheet for his final. There were many topics covered in the HW (rational functions, direct and inverse variation, basic probability, factoring, etc.). We worked on approaching the problems carefully and strove to solve them in a more step-by-step manner. For the final exam review problems, we worked on using operations on rational functions and simplifying them by finding common factors, etc. We also went over graphing these functions and finding the holes and the vertical asymptotes, and understanding the distinction between those. We also spent time reviewing the properties of exponents and logarithms to solve for variables, including change of base and other related concepts. He would benefit from some more individual practice to make sure he retains these skills for his final."
"Today's session with the student went really well. We spent our time working on calculus, specifically integration by parts and trig substitution. She is doing very well with the subject. She has a great attitude and is a pleasure to work with. I did see her last exam score, and she is doing very well. We just need to correct a few small things, and she will easily be able to get 100%."
"We reviewed for an exam on exponential and logarithms. The student is doing well with all of the material except remembering how to rewrite an exponential as a logarithm and vice versa, so I recommended making index cards to recall the transformations."
"In this session, we went over the product rule and quotient rule. The student had a worksheet given to her by her instructor that we reviewed. Additionally, we did some application problems and some of the typical "finding the equation of a line tangent to the point" problems."
