Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I began our session by checking over the student's homework. He did a very good job except for two subtraction problems involving carrying. After I had him correct these problems, we went through five worksheets in his math book. I then assigned him a couple of pages to complete over the weekend. He has been doing a great job recently! After we were done with our work we played his arithmetic game."
"We introduced converting from fractions to decimals and practiced this skill. The new process seemed frustrating for the student at first, but she was able to independently complete problems by the end of the session."
"Today the student's homework covered operations on polynomials. She'd watched the video and taken notes so she understood most of it already. I spent the most time explaining polynomial long division since she hadn't done it before. We also looked at a logic puzzle she had and I helped her get it started."
"Today, we covered the volume for rectangular prisms, triangles, spheres and cylinders. It was challenging material. I showed the student how to calculate rather challenging problems and the student promised to carefully review all material."
"A continuation of our discussion on convergence and divergence of series. This session focused on the ratio and root test, alternating series test, limit and direct comparison, along with an integral test problem (for which I showed a simpler by-parts integration method) and in the end I discussed interval of convergence for power series, which is an upcoming topic for the student."
"In this session, we went over solving and graphing inequalities and absolute values. The student was having trouble with absolute values. We went over some problems where I showed him how to solve them and why they are solved that way. He was then able to solve the problems correctly with only minimal guidance and seemed more comfortable with the material."
