Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on a chapter test and a worksheet involving simplifying radicals, simplifying fractional polynomials, and calculating inverse, direct, and jointly related functions."
"Today we had our last session in preparation for the student's college exam. We went over practice problems on series and understanding what derivatives and second derivatives tell you about the function."
"Student #1 and I reviewed for her probability/statistics test. Student #2 and I reviewed and practiced arithmetic and geometric sequences and series."
"We reviewed the concepts of trigonometric functions, how to convert radians to degrees, how to solve problems by using unit circles and how to solve word problems using trig functions. The Student tried hard and took good notes. She understands what we are doing right now. We reviewed about 20 homework problems. She is able to do the problems on her own and get the correct answers."
"We did a review of polynomial functions during the first part of the session. The student found zeros of the polynomial function given in standard form, then wrote it in a factored form. We reviewed rational factor and applied it to determine the possible zeros of the function. We used remainder theorem to justify that a possible zero is an actual zero, then used the synthetic division to find the remaining zeros. We also graphed polynomial functions using all the information above. The second part of the session we discussed rational functions and graphs. We determined the domain of the rational function, holes, vertical and horizontal/oblique asymptotes, then we graphed a function."
"We reviewed the student's pre-calculus and economics homework in preparation for his exams this week. He's doing well - he knows the material and just needs to review a little bit more before the test. He should be sure to read through the economics material and familiarize himself with the definitions and the graphs."
