Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished working on his research/opinion paper about the benefit of having new safety measures implemented in school for a safer student environment."
"Reviewed vocabulary flashcards for "To Kill a Mockingbird," focusing more on the vocabulary words client did not know as well."
"The student and I began studying for his final exam in English, which will be in two weeks. During this session, we focused on commonly confused words. The student struggles particularly with lie/lay, already/all ready, altogether/all together, though he occasionally will miss some others. I marked questions on the review guide for his mother to go over with him in the future."
"During this session, the student and I worked on an assignment she had for the play "Inherit the Wind." She had to choose four quotes from the play and identify the speaker and context of the quote and then analyze the quotes meaning and significance to the play overall. She did an excellent job identifying the speaker and context of each quote. She also did a nice job analyzing the quotes as we discussed them. Whenever we analyze literature through discussion, she consistently makes astute observations and offers thoughtful insight."
"Tonight we continued working on the student's paper. We focused on chapters 2 and 4. We worked to connect the characters and add some resolution to the end of the plot."
"The student and I covered the following: -Discussed likely format and questions on English final. -Reviewed difference between gerunds and participles. -Diagrammed sentences showing difference between gerunds and participles, and between adjectives and adverbs. -Started reviewing characters."
