Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student came to our session with a great attitude. He was open to learning new skills about the Mac by explaining what he did know. We went over email, the cloud, shortcut keys, and the commands and buttons of the actual keyboard. We also reviewed folders and saving files as well as organizing files."
"Today was our first session. The student's main focus is to pass an exam with a 75 or better to move on in the program. He has sample questions from previous exams, and I am validating his answers and understanding then correcting where appropriate."
"We went over the student's extra credit assignment and got it working; we implemented a class to simplify the assignment and used lambda statements to simplify complicated averages. For the future, I recommended that he go over the technical definitions of class, instance, and object because those differences seemed to be the main thing tripping him up."
"Today, we covered CSS3 images, buttons, pagination, multiple columns, user interface, box sizing, and we started on flexbox. There were a few little things that the student didn't understand at first, but after a quick explanation, she got them fairly easily. Today was mostly a guided study session with no practice questions."
"We went over lab 5 tonight. The student shows good skill in coding and get right to the point. We rsn the session a little bit longer to finish the lab."
"We worked on a program involving matrices and recursion. We covered looping through arrays and structuring print statements. I think the student has a decent grasp of loop structure, but he occasionally lapses into a mindset of coding without thinking, where he begins with a design in mind but puts code fragments in the wrong places. I believe this can be fixed with diligent practice and reduced reliance on my corrective nudges."
