"Today we went over a few extended response questions from old AP tests that the teacher provided. The student's main challenge was not identifying what equations to use and how to use her concepts when reading a long question stem. We went in detail what to do and how to address what the question is asking. As always, the emphasis was on remembering units with answers. Then we went over concepts like entropy and how it relates to enthalpy and Gibbs free energy and what it means to be spontaneous. I then left her with some practice multiple choice questions in energy and thermodynamics to prepare for her test on Wednesday."
"The student needed review on R and S configuration. I will supply 3-4 practice problems to work on this. We covered several organometallic reactions. We worked on the Heck reaction, Grubbs metathesis and the Sharpless epoxidation and worked through predicting the products for these reactions."
"Reviewed naming techniques and methodology regarding polyatomic and mono-atomic compounds. Went through her worksheets/ reviews regarding this in preparation for an upcoming quiz. Went over "best practice" setup processes to help with creating compound formulas from names and then going the opposite way in naming compounds from a given formula."
"The student has an AP Chem and AP calculus test on Friday, so we met tonight to review those materials. For her Chem, we briefly reviewed molarity and molality, titration, and redox reactions. For calculus, we worked on determining limits of continuous and discontinuous functions."
"The student has an exam next week, so we reviewed her last two units related to movement, muscles, and the nervous system. We also discussed her plan for studying and covered areas she was concerned about. Overall, she has understood the material greatly, and I believe she will do well on this exam."
"The student has an exam tomorrow, so we worked through some of the problems he had trouble with during the week. I pointed out the places where I saw him struggling the most and the formulas I thought would be the most helpful for his exam."
