Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For our first session, we covered ideal gas laws and partial pressure. We did test question multiple choices. As she has indicated before the session, her struggle is indeed appropriately setting up problems. She is also shaky on other previous material, like stoichiometry and molar mass. One of the issues we might have resolved is that she sometimes punches in the numbers in a wrong manner in the calculator."
"The student's class was covering electron configuration and isotope mass. We spent the entire time working on practice problems. We got to the point where she was quite comfortable with both concepts and with working problems."
"We went over the basics of both Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, including the periodic table and bonding. We followed the curriculum of the textbooks thoroughly. After reviewing their work on the previous chapters, I taught them several concepts from each textbook they seemed to have trouble with (mostly the nature of bonding). I instructed them to read the next two-three chapters and answer the questions listed at the end so in the following session we would be able to start by reviewing these questions."
"The student and I practiced more problems focusing on enthalpies of formation in Hess's Law. She is doing well with the material. We covered new concepts focused on electromagnetic radiation, line spectra, and the beginnings of quantum theory. The concepts were a little hard for her to visualize, so we will continue to review the concepts on Wednesday."
"The student and I prepped for her final tomorrow. We covered the ideal gas law, stoichiometry, and boiling points based on intermolecular forces. She just has to study solubility rules, and she should be good to go!"
"The student and I resumed our review for his next test. We focused primarily on solubility rules and charts. Furthermore, we practiced several exercises on molarity and dilutions. We went into the vocabulary and understanding the concepts so that he would be able to fully explain his reasoning. With more practice, he should do very well on his exam."
