Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, we covered properties of logarithms and exponents. Most of this requires a fair bit of memorization, but can be relatively mastered with repeated practice. The student was understanding the material pretty well, and only needed a bit of help overall. We also covered solving logarithmic and exponential equations."
"For this session, we reviewed pre-calculus, specifically focusing on trigonometric functions. I went over all the concepts with the student and made sure that she understood all of them. We then reviewed some of her previous tests and practice material and went over mistakes she had made. Overall, she had a solid understanding of all necessary concepts and only made minor calculation mistakes or inattentive errors, which she should be able to rectify with practice."
"For this session, we went over some of the arithmetic series, and we worked on test prep, as the student has a test coming up. I created and sent him some practice items to work on in order to prepare for the upcoming test."
"General trigonometric ratios and their application to right triangles and the unit circle. Review of using the inverse trigonometric operation to find an angle that gives a certain ratio. General unit circle theory and the relation to trigonometric functions. Trigonometric identities such as the Pythagorean identity and sum or difference formula."
"I focused this session on Newton's law of cooling and half-life problems. The student had a hard time collecting information from word problems, but after many examples, she gained more confidence. I emphasized the importance of knowing which formulas to use, writing the correct formula, and inputting the correct values to get the right answer. She will be taking her chapter test this Tuesday and Wednesday, and I am expecting an improvement of grades from previous tests."
"I helped him with understanding how to graph ellipses, hyperbolas, and rotating conics. Then I went over other graphing he didn't understand well to prepare for the final. He felt much better after I explained it, and he said he felt ready for the final."
