Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"First the student finished her homework, and then we did some reviews. We reviewed animals, body parts, colors and the written out dates. We also played the "Tangram" game I brought and we drew cartoons to review the vocab and practice the conversation. The new vocab words she learned today were: almost and deer. She also learned how to write the word: body and tail. The homework is to finish the worksheet."
"We are now on Lesson 6, and the student is progressing nicely. We are working on memorizing dialogues before moving on to grammar points and vocabulary. This is an effective way to learn Chinese, as it mimics the immersion experience."
"Lesson 4 and 5 were reviewed in this session. The pronunciation for neutral tone will be practiced more in the next session. Making a dialogue based on the picture or translation practice is planned in the next session. The student was encouraged to continue to practice characters."
"We covered the material the student's mother emailed me. She is struggling with the Chinese tone pronunciation a little bit, which is difficult for any non-native speaker learning Chinese. She is an energetic and cheerful girl and it's quite pleasant working with her. More practice is the key for fluent and correct Chinese pronunciation."
"We covered the packet he was given over the summer. We went over days of the week, time, answering questions about where he is from, and how old he is. We set a goal to work on the vocabulary and prepare for his test."
"We covered the part of one lesson in the workbook. The student did a great job of recognizing characters. She was careful and paid very much attention in the session. I anticipate that we will work on three lessons in the following two months based on the workbook assignments. Her extra practice is practicing dialogue, pay attention to tones, and review grammars."
