Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our first session, I gave the student a diagnostic exam that was difficult for him. So instead of having him complete it, we began reviewing various algebra content and reading comprehension. He has 25 words to memorize, 2 reading comprehension passages, and algebra math questions for homework."
"The student and I spent our full session yesterday afternoon working on SSAT math. We worked through one quantitative section, alternating between talking through a few problems together and timing her for a group of 4-6 problems. We identified exponents and percentages as two areas we will continue to work on. We ended with a series of exponent problems that I wrote out for her, and she did very well with them. She seemed excited to tell me that she got a 98 on her last math test in school."
"We focused on the Reading and Math sections of the SSAT. The reading section does not seem to give her much trouble, so we focused primarily on the Math section. Specifically, we worked on word problems as this is something she still has some difficulty with. We also spent time reviewing her essay from last week for the Writing section of the SSAT; she needs to work on being more detailed and elaborating on her main points. She should continue working on word problems and the Verbal section."
