"We covered problems from the student's homework, which included calculating confidence intervals and z-scores. We also went over her rough draft for her Week 2 essay, which required her to pose a research question incorporating the chapter material in the response criteria. She is very motivated and resourceful. Next week we plan on covering the next set of homework problems, the next written assignment, and possibly the rest of the first week's homework problems."
"Finished trig word problems, looked over unit circle. The student is a very bright student and had no conceptual trouble. I left him with homework to complete the upcoming test and as many discussion posts as possible."
"The student had a practice AP Calc exam so we went over the problems she was having trouble with. I gave her strategies on identifying what each question was asking for. We also went over how to handle "Which of these must be true" style questions. We reviewed integration by parts, implicit differentiation and the definition of a derivative."
"We reviewed graphing and creating equations using directrix, focus and vertex of a parabola. We also reviewed chemistry, including balancing equations and mole to mole ratio."
"Today, The student and I worked on correcting some problems that she missed on some math assessments/exercises. With a little extra refreshment of terms and a quick review of the meanings of symbols (symmetry, greater than/less than/equal to, inches vs. centimeters), she was able to see the ways she erred and successfully rework the problems. There was one subject--money--that was more of a struggle for her. We spent a long time reviewing the differences between cents, dollars, pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. I took out some coins from my purse and we worked with the tangible objects. I hope this is an area we can continue to work at."
"Today we covered systems of equations. I was delighted to see that both the students are not having too much trouble with the process. There are some times where they are missing minor mistakes but they are very knowledgeable in this topic. I did see there previous test grade which was exciting to see their confidence. They did very well! I also ran through some topics trying to discover where their gaps are."
