Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's math work. He completed two sections from the reading program. In these sections, he learned about the table of contents and prefaces of books. He also wrote a composition about book prefaces. He then completed several sections of grammar. These sections were about the use of conjunctions."
"We spent some time on a typed essay that is submitted for grades, and then we moved onto Math to review HW problems. The topics were using APR and either finding a monthly payment or the total amount due at the end of a loan."
"We started the student's session with math homework, which was focused on identifying different names for numbers and identifying ordinal numbers. She was a little unsure, but I think it was just introduced in class. The remainder of the session was focused on writing. I reviewed the main components of a 'story' to her, which included the characters, beginning, middle, and end. I also encouraged her to use descriptive vocabulary. She has a great framework and wrote the beginning. We will complete it at our next session. We finished with a game related to synonyms and antonyms."
"We started with a review of the distributive property while solving for a single variable. We moved onto combining like terms and solving/simplifying. We worked on converting word problems to number problems and continued to work on simplification problems."
"We started with math- geometry- angles, area, perimeter, and volume. Then we went over the student's rough draft for English. She is doing well. She was much more engaged and attentive to detail."
"We took time to review for the chapter 2 test. The student struggled a bit with the Venn diagrams, but she seems to be getting the idea of how to complete them. Some of the wording in the questions is very tricky when identifying the areas. We went through the chapter quiz online, and she was able to complete it correctly. Then, we moved on to chapter 3 topics covering truth tables. We went through the basics and broke down the problems to make them manageable. I am very impressed at her organization and hard work."
