Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I mainly focused on solving quadratic equations when given three points. The process is pretty lengthy and tedious, but I think he will be fine now that we've walked through his concerns. He has an exam soon, so I made sure to tell him that if he has any questions or concerns prior to the exam to just give me a call."
"The student and I met and discussed some details of this project this week, and I spent some extra time this evening to finish more data analysis, survey research, dissertation study, and document writing."
"The student and I met and discussed what he needs help with. I received a copy of his book. I gave him a study guide to help with upcoming homework. We went through each chapter while I explained concepts I'm familiar with, such as cross products. For the rest of the time, he did practice problems so that I could check his answers and methods with mine. The session went well, and it gave me an idea of how I can best help him."
"The student and I met for an hour this session, but will go to 90 minutes for future sessions. He and I split our time about evenly between fractions, decimals, percentages, and word problems, although he identified he feels least comfortable with word problems. He clearly understands most of the material, but is a bit rusty because he hasn't had to do math problems in a long time, and will sometimes flip numbers around. I'm confident that more practice will sharpen him."
"The student and I met for the first time to work on College Algebra and Chemistry. It was great to hear about her educational background and goals for the future. She worked on her most recent College Algebra assignment online. Topics included: Solve absolute value one variable equations, absolute value one variable compound inequalities, linear equations, point-slope form of linear equations, and slope-intercept form of linear equations. Great session! Fun, productive, and challenging session. There was one problem that inspired me to go deeper in an absolute value equation."
"The student and I met for the first time today, and we worked on some homework he was assigned. The homework covered basic vector operations. He seemed to understand the material he was assigned, and simply needed someone to help him synthesize all of the concepts he had learned."
