Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a great first session! We used this time to complete her homework as well as do some extra classwork for additional practice. Currently, her class is working on inverse functions: mainly quadratic, cubic, and rational functions. The biggest issue I noticed was a tendency for her to rush through problems without double checking that what she's doing makes sense for what the question is asking. When I asked her about why she was solving problems in particular ways, it got her to think about her methods, which she was able to quickly correct."
"The student and I had a great first session. We spent our time today working through the curriculum related to her first homework assignment. I was really impressed by her conscious efforts to check her own understanding before we moved on to the next subject. At this point, her main difficulty is understanding the teacher's use of English phrases to describe math concepts. I think she'll have a much easier time understanding the lectures as the quarter goes on."
"The student and I had a great session going over precalc concepts. We focused on finding roots of quadratic functions, graphing, and word problems involving setting up a quadratic equation. We worked through many practice problems, and she had a better understanding by the end!"
"The student and I had a great session today. We went into a lot of detail over factors and using them in ratios. We also discussed remembering our order of operations."
"The student and I had a great session today. We worked on adding and subtracting negative integers. She was very confused about whether numbers got bigger or smaller when you add or subtract negatives, so we completed her homework and did some extra review. Her test is Friday. She got a 94% on her last test, which I am so proud of her for!! We discussed meeting again this week before her test to continue to cement her understanding."
"The student and I had a productive, energetic session this afternoon! She was attentive throughout the entire lesson! Way to go! I covered operations and equations with decimals, rounding decimals, operations and equations with integers, plus manipulating exponents, scientific notation, and problems with higher order thinking skills using exponents. Thumbs up!"
