We looked over APA formatting and useful outline strategies for her gender development essay. I asked her to finish an outline for her essay and then complete a rough draft which she will send to me by Sunday afternoon so I can look it over and give her feedback.

We covered calculating descriptive statistics of data sets and drawing conclusions, including the mean, median, mode, percentiles, and quartiles. The student got 105/110 on his first homework assignment last week and has a quiz in the upcoming week. Earlier today I sent a list of study tips, and he is moving forward on implementing them, especially building the relationship with the teacher. She is available for extra help, and he has been making use of that resource. I have also found some review problems for math from the previous semester that I will send. We can use them as material for future sessions.

We talked about coming up with our hypothesis, the assumptions for the test, how to calculate the t statistic and the p value (both on her calculator and on online t statistic calculators), how to write the conclusions or results, and how to calculate and interpret confidence levels for a test.
