We worked on a short review before beginning her semester 2 final test. We worked on translation, the case classification and use in the translation, and culture questions. Today, we went over the remaining tense of verbs that the student has to know. She had forgotten most of them, so we had to spend a lot of time on the basics of the forms. I'll send a few relevant worksheets for her to do; she also has blank versions of the tests taken this semester that she should start working on. She should make note of any questions or things she doesn't understand so we can go over them before her final.

We also covered infinitives, participles, and the ablative absolute, comparatives and superlatives, and tense recognition. The student is working very hard, and I believe he's understanding key concepts. He did well and simply needs to continue to work hard. This is the last session of the year!

Mission Viejo, CA Latin tutoring
Today, the student and I continued working on covering topics for his Latin final that is coming up in a few weeks. We had left last session having gone over the forms for the relative pronoun, and today, we covered its translation, which is especially difficult as its form follows its function within the relative clause it introduces. This is a difficult concept to grasp, but it served to be an edifying series of translation exercises that allowed us to not only cover the topic at hand but also cursorily cover verb tenses and translation, noun declension forms and usages, and vocabulary. I thought that the student did a fantastic job with his translation, and I look forward to continuing with him on Thursday.
