"The student and I went over how to solve percentages by setting up proportions and by writing equations. When setting up proportions, we were sure to go over exactly where to put the numbers and why. This took some time, but she really caught on to this. We also went over functions and how to graph, make a table, draw an arrow diagram, and list the set of ordered pairs. We then talked about how to find the rule. Lastly, we talked about domain, range, and codomain."
"Our first session in an international trade economics class. The prof moves very quickly and leaves steps out in those explanations, very common in this kind of class. That makes the HW we worked on more challenging. I went through the basics of the subject matter and provided suggestions for most of the HW. There are still a couple of things I want to check."
"Today we did statistics theory working with the F and T distributions; specifically, how they relate to other distributions and using this to write proofs. It was challenging and we made quick progress in some parts and slow progress in other parts. I recommended she plan many shorter study sessions rather than one long study session for this class, because, often, what the questions need is different approaches, and I find it easier to find new approaches when I approach the question on different days."
"We reviewed the writing section, and then focused on math. We'll continue to focus on math going forward. Math strategies need work. She was very receptive. I provided time-saving tips in math and also identified pain points in writing questions. I provided a practice test to work on. I definitely noted progress in some question types, and have no concerns."
"We mostly worked on ACT science today, since that is where she can see the largest improvement. The first section she did was the reading passage of a science section and she got them all right. Timing has very clearly been her issue, so we broke up a test and timed each section to get it all done in time. She completed that test within the time provided and brought her score up to a 28. At the end, we did a little math, and she was able to get all of the problems we did correct. I assigned a math and a science test section for next time."
"We worked on the student's new English composition assignment, which was an essay based on a personal photo. I helped him select a photo and topic, and he worked on the start of the essay. We also worked out an outline for the remainder of it for him to work on his draft."
