Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the first part of GRE math diagnostic 6, and then clarified problems in the student's digital GRE prep book. We also practiced some inference questions. The student is to complete verbal diagnostic as well as take notes on math concepts and confusions in the prep book for review next session. Good job!"
"We worked through problems with functions, sequences, and quadratic equations. We covered remainder theory, and then looked at the sums and products of odd and even numbers. Our next meeting will be on Sunday."
"We worked through some of the problems the student did on a practice run session, and isolated two issues: one with understanding how to relate standard deviation and probability, and another on how to use factorials and solve combinatoric problems."
"We wrapped up our review of numeric properties/arithmetic on the GRE. The student should attempt questions in the math workbook - chapter 6 to continue working on questions related to these topics. She has a strong foundation with the content and will benefit from building her familiarity with how these topics are tested on the GRE. Great work today! Next time we will either review her HW or start on verbal, depending on how much she is able to get through."
"As far as I can tell, the student is largely solid in mathematics - there isn't one area where he is particularly strong or weak compared to others."
"As planned, I gathered questions that the student wanted to work on. First, we worked on combinations/permutations and probability questions. Initially, he struggled on understanding some central concepts. Probability is a difficult topic for many people in general, however. For the second half of the session, we worked on exponents. He did well with this. There were some general properties I had to point out, but, otherwise, the session went well and he got a further feel for the types of questions he can get asked on the GRE math section."
