Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"As we continue to work through the final exam review, the student is getting more comfortable with each section. She is making less mistakes and applying the tips I have been giving her. We will finish the review on Wednesday before the test on Thursday."
"Today was my second lesson with the student. We ran through around 10 questions from the SAT Reading section. I gave him some strategies for approaching certain question types. Halfway through the lesson, he disappeared."
"We went over the Reading, Math, and English sections, and practiced strategies with each of them. The student seems to be making good progress! We talked about ways she can prepare for the ACT, and things she could do before our next session to improve. She seems to be doing very well!"
"In today's session, the student learned rules for multiplying 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. He did very well and I had him explain to me the rule each time he solved a multiplication problem. Good job! I also told him he's not allowed to say he doesn't know how to multiply anymore. We worked on short and long vowels in his passage reading. We will continue to work on those concepts as he progresses in learning multi-syllable words. I asked the student to practice his reading. I previously sent multiplication cards he can make and study while on vacation. I encouraged him to read signs along the way and to multiply all the fish he will catch. He is a pleasure to teach and is gaining confidence in his abilities."
"Today, we went over another practice test that the student took on her own time to cover all of the problems she missed. It looks like the questions she misses are primarily time consuming math questions, so she is doing very well. The primary focus for this last week will thus be on timing issues to make sure she gets through as many questions as possible! As always, I'm available by email should anything arise."
"We looked at passage based practice tests the entire time. The student shared his passages with me, and we looked at them together. We focused in on questions that he had missed. Topics included, cell aggregation, volumetric pumps, urine excretion, aldol reactions and nucleophilic substitution reactions, R and S stereoisomers, D and L sugar configuration, etc."
