Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered slope-intercept form, graphing, y-intercepts, and constant of variation. We made good progress on all of the material. I ended the session with some tips, mainly stressing the key concept of getting y by itself."
"The student does really well with her current content, which consists of: adding fractions with the same denominator, recognizing one whole, reducing fractions, and subtracting fractions with the same denominator. She completed her homework assignment today. On the last test, she struggled with unequal fractions. I have given her problems to work on, and I reminded her to show her work by drawing and labeling the bars with the appropriate fractions."
"We did a lot of practice on proportions and multiplying decimals and transformations on coordinates. The student seems to understand the concepts. I think she's definitely on the right track to succeeding this year! We are going to now do sessions every other week."
"Today, we went over graphing, y intercept, and slope. We went through the customary 20 questions. The student got every question he attempted correct."
"The student is making good progress. We spent the entire session reviewing her math homework. It consisted of solving simple algebraic equations with fractions and mixed numbers. She understands the concepts of making fractions have common denominators in order to add or subtract them. I showed her how she can cancel out common factors instead of having to multiply everything out and then simplifying."
"I broke the session into two parts. For the first part, we went over some SAT questions to review logarithms and exponentials. For the second part, I gave an introduction to the student's next topic, which is quadratic equations. I taught him about all of the important aspects of a quadratic formula and graph. I then covered an extension topic about how you could use calculus to prove one of the equations we were using. He worked very well in this session and caught onto the new topic well."
