Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. We also began to work on a google project due next week over graphing lines. The student is very comfortable with graphing."
"The student and I went over polygon theorems. He is lagging slightly behind his class, but not by much. Extra practice is the key to geometry problems. If I have some free time this weekend I will find some extra problems for him to work on."
"We covered the different linear equation representations used in coordinate geometry and practiced finding slopes and defining equations based on their relationship with other lines (parallel, perpendicular, oblique)."
"Today, the student had a study sheet on trapezoids and kites for an upcoming test. I helped her with all of the problems on the sheet and explained how to answer them. Again, she was able to catch on and understand how to interpret the exercises. I'm confident that she will do well on her test."
"We started by going over simple free body diagrams and how to calculate the force exerted by an object using Newton's second law. I worked through a couple of examples with the student. She also has instructions to ask for clarification on a worksheet her teacher gave her because some of the force vectors were missing. Then, we moved on to trigonometry. We started going over the topics that will be on her semester exam. I reviewed how to set up trigonometric word problems with triangles. We then spent the rest of the time reviewing the unit circle and how to convert between radians and degrees."
"This was our last review session before the student's midterm. We reviewed the last set of questions she had prepared to ask her teacher, and then we mostly talked about the various ways of finding the points of confluence for a triangle. This involved reviewing vocabulary definitions, as well as a discussion of how to use a compass to find the points on an actual triangle."
