Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I planned to work on biology with the student this week. There was state testing go on, so we reviewed surface area and volume for geometry as well. There was not much to go over, so we worked ahead."
"The student had a test on the material finding the area and arc lengths of different segments of the circle. In addition to this topic, we began reviewing the January exam and made a list of the topics that we need to focus on before the next time we meet."
"Prepared student for quiz. The student knows the material. Will go over returned tests next time, as well as prepare him for test. Next appointment, Thursday."
"Today the student and I covered problems from each chapter of her book in order to prepare for her final. I also gave her a few test taking skills and studying skills in order to further prepare for her finals."
"We went over an extra credit assignment for the student's geometry class. The assignment involved determining the number and types of angles in a complicated geometric figure. Since the student finished the question in about a half an hour, we ended early."
"Today, we started reviewing for the student's semester exam. Most of the questions she missed was due to her not knowing the proper formulas for surface area and volume, so I assigned equation memorization as her homework."
"Today we reviewed sections 7.04, 7.05, and 7.06 for the student's quiz on Tuesday. We covered equilateral, isosceles, and scalene triangles, midlines, medians, and altitudes. We also went over using a compass and protractor to solve problems. We also reviewed theorems, including perpendicular bisectors and triangle angle sum conjecture. He has a good grasp of these concepts and should do well on his quiz."
"I met the student today to review geometry. Once more, we went over a lot of similar triangles problems. She is getting better at solving problems independently, but now it is time to work on more complicated scenarios. I spent a good amount of time going over the intersecting chords and secant lines theorems, and relating them to their proofs via similar triangles. For now the important thing is for her to continue practicing problems on her own. I left her homework unfinished so she could work on a few problems herself, and will see her Monday to follow up on her work."
"Today was the student's last tutoring session for the current semester on geometry. She needs to review every chapter once again and thoroughly review the theorems not provided on her formula sheet. We quickly reviewed chapters 1-5 today, but most of her test will be on later chapters."
"We studied the student's review packet for her final exam as well as her formula sheet. She knew how to use all the formulas, but had some trouble remembering when to use certain formulas. I suggested she work on some more the packet before our next meeting."
"Had a good first session. We spent time reviewing some concepts in trigonometry and how to use sin/cos/tan and sin-1/cos-1/tan-1 to find sides in triangles and/or angle measures. After a few practice problems, it seemed that the student had a pretty good idea of it, then we got a jump ahead on the next topics he will learn; which is tangent lines to circles and the applications therein. We also spoke about his study habits and how to look at the material the night before the test."
"Review of chapter 10.1-10.5. We filled in and went over the notes. We then went over the homework. Working with triangles and quadrilateral inscribed in a circle. Given an arc find the value of an angle, etc."
