Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed homework regarding rotational motion, moment of inertia, and center of mass. We mostly worked on problems, and the session went well."
"We spent some time going over problems from the student's most recent test, especially electrochemical concentration gradients, which will play a large role as we get further into understanding cell biology (especially neurons). We also discussed two of the five levels of control in protein production: at the level of the DNA itself and at the level of transcription. With DNA, we talked about DNA methylation and histone acetylation. At the level of transcription, we discussed transcription factors, silencers, and enhancers. Lastly, we did a brief introduction to the general mechanism of cancer, and we will be going into greater detail in future sessions. The student had no problems with any of the material. Overall, a very good session."
"Today, the student and I discussed the review packet for her physics exam this week. The end of the packet included both conceptual questions and free response. She had a bit of difficulty with a free response question that was about energy and spring motion, but understood it once I helped her set it up. Other than that, she understood topics such as conservation of momentum, energy, simple pendulums and harmonic motion. She was left with the review to study for the test."
