"Today we worked on entropy, enthalpy, and heat of formation of reactions. The student's biggest obstacle was mixing up entropy and enthalpy (to be fair, they sound very similar). We talked over what each term was and what implications it had, and I think the meanings became a little more relevant to her. Then we worked on problems solving for the heat of formation. She definitely needed help when it came to canceling out terms from both sides of the equation--something I will focus more on next time, since it appears everywhere in AP Chemistry. On the whole, she did a good job, and ultimately it will come down to lots of practice with these kinds of problems. She was left with a bit more review to finish up, which we will check up on next time."
"We worked on a forces with friction quiz. The student did very well on her own. She has a test coming Thursday, and we hope it will go well."
"We covered word problems involving molarity and Lewis structures, as well as molecular shapes, intermolecular forces, and solubility rules in preparation for the student's exam tomorrow. She seemed to have good grasp of all the concepts we went over."
