Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on a mental math sheet first and then reviewed to make sure he was caught up on work."
"The student was able to finish his world history research paper and a few quizzes. Also, he worked on his English assignments and caught him up with his computer assignments. He is moving along at a nice pace. He tries so hard and is a pleasure to work with. We will focus on his research paper thesis and lab work on Wednesday."
"Today the student and I went over her current homework and study schedule. Her homework is fairly light at the moment, following a few hectic weeks of multiple quizzes, tests, and assignments. We discussed how she could reduce her overall study time for her History class, and then discussed her current work in English class. She is up to speed in both. We then spent some time reviewing her current Math work in preparation for her quiz tomorrow. She not only understands this material much better than she understood the previous unit, she is also remembering to slow her self down and to watch for the little mistakes that previously cost her points. In short, she seems to excelling in her studying, particularly when it comes to math, and she certainly seems to be organizing her notes and better managing her time. After reviewing Math, we ended so that she could focus on finishing her other homework. We agreed that if she could finish her two worksheets she will have managed to complete her homework in 90 minutes."
"We spent the session preparing for an upcoming science exam. Since the study guide the student completed was going to be used as test material, our method involved memorizing questions and their respective answers. I had him try this out in batches of 5 questions, which culminated in a quiz to ensure he mastered the questions. By the end of the session, he had 20 questions mastered. I assigned him to memorize the next 20 questions within the study guide."
"We studied for tomorrow's math test on solving quadratic equations by completing the square (including some problems in which the answers are complex numbers), and then we did theology work in the book of Judges. On Wednesday, we will look at science and history, as the student has a quiz and a test on Friday."
"We took some time to recap what we've done and where we need to go. The student revised and submitted his essay. We focused on reading aloud to recognize his errors, rewording, and using synonyms in order to broaden vocabulary. The next assignment we worked on is a project in which he has to write a report. I helped him review the parts he had and gave him suggestions on how to improve it."
