Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed distance vs. time, velocity vs. time, acceleration vs. time graphs and what each of those tells us. We also began talking about Newton's three laws of motion."
"We covered problems involving the kinematics formulas, like how to determine initial velocity if you know final distance, or time of flight and vice versa."
"We reviewed impulse-momentum theorem and conservation of momentum problems. Next time we will review old test problems and do extra practice."
"We went through two different chapters: 1. solution, solubility, molarity/molality calculation, reading solubility chart; 2. chemical formula, empirical formula, percentage composition. We did practice questions on both part 1 and part 2, and we'll keep on doing practice for part 2 next session."
"We worked mostly on significant figures. The student practiced identifying the number of significant figures in single numbers and following calculations of multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. She applied that knowledge when converting numbers into scientific notation. She usually wrote the number correctly. She did well with multiplication and division. We also practiced dimensional analysis, which provided a culmination of the skills by requiring her to put the answer into scientific notation."
"We worked on a review of the homework I left for him during our previous session and corrected the mistakes he made. Then we moved on and went over calculating the the pH of salts. This was followed by buffer solutions and some more problems about it. The student was doing great on all of the problems except with the buffer and neutralization problems. He needs to work more problems like this and he has his homework for it."
