Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I worked through multiple calculus problems involving related rates. We discussed and compared our solutions when they differed, but we got most of the problems correct immediately. I will also scan and email the solutions to his assigned implicit differentiation problems, which we did not have enough time during this session to examine."
"Today, the student completed the her worksheet on the area underneath a curve and the definition of a definite integral as represented by area. Then, we worked on textbook problems of Riemann sums using left, right, and midpoint rules. Finally, we introduced the limit definition of an integral."
"Tonight we covered differentiation techniques including implicit differentiation. The student struggled the most with trig functions and algebraic steps. As always, he had a great attitude towards the reviewed material. I gave him a list of algebraic steps to complete when implicitly taking derivatives. I did not give any extra practice. "
"Tonight we spent 30 minutes practicing problems for the student's math quiz tomorrow covering the quotient rule of differentiation. He worked through problems on his own and was able to work efficiently and get them all correct from easy to difficult level of problems."
"Tonight we went over some basics about the SAT math, and talked about what he thought he needed help with. After that, we went over a recent calculus quiz that he took. We talked about limits and basic derivatives, and I tried to give him a better idea of the concepts behind why he got the problems wrong. We talked about how average velocity can be found by finding slopes between points. We also talked about how to find limits, how one-sided limits relate to overall limits, and the definition of a derivative."
"Topics discussed included limits, the limit definition of a derivative, derivatives, and understanding the limits. The student seemed disillusioned by the subject due to poor instruction form the teacher."
