Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began the session with algebra math practice. It included finishing his homework and working through extra guided practice. Next, we reviewed his up coming assignments and checked his grade progress on line. Lastly, he and I practiced his vocabulary words."
"The student and I continued focusing on algebra. She explained that her test was difficult, but when pressed further, she commented that she only had difficulty on two questions. When we went over those two types of questions, she did very well. One thing that she identified as a struggle was keeping the order of steps right in her head, and explained that it's most difficult to do that when she uses division. I spent a long time explaining that she had to work backwards when solving algebra problems, but she had a much more effective strategy-- always do the problem in the same direction, and move the variable when it needs to be moved. The student and I continued to work on fractions, and he moved quickly once again once he identified the pattern."
"The student and I continued his packet going over some basic statistical functions, both with a calculator and without. He is making good strides knowing what needs to be done mathematically for the different problems we are working on, we just need to learn to use his calculator more effectively."
"The student and I continued our discussion of integration techniques, discussing integrals of trigonometric functions. She understands the material well after breaking down the patterns of the integral."
"The student and I continued our work from last time for most of today's session. We went through variable products, systems of equations and graphing inequalities. Toward the end, we went over identifying parent functions and understanding how to visualize their graphs. I'm impressed with his enthusiasm once he gets more familiar with this materials."
"The student and I continued to go over Venn diagrams for sets. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, so we gathered more practice problems and just kept going over what each symbol means and how to translate it onto the diagram. The repetition has seemed to help thus far. She has a quiz tomorrow, and she will text me or call with any additional questions or if she needs to talk out a problem."
