Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The first student I went over more genetics, epigenetics, missense and nonsense mutations, frameshift mutations, sex determination, the difference in germ line and somatic mutations, and genetic imprinting. The second student I went over calculating atomic mass, reviewed the different atomic theories, and went over her review sheet for an upcoming quiz."
"We went through the rest of her packet. It was about skeletal system, digestive system, excretory system, and the skin and respiratory system. I asked her to read the concepts and try to answer the questions first and I was checking to make sure she was doing it right. I also explained the concepts after each part to make sure she understood them. She is doing well."
"The student and I covered photosynthesis and cellular respiration, as well as touching on other topics like genetics and mutation. She is well-prepared for her final and I will update her performance on bio here once I hear about her progress. Overall, she is attentive and diligent, so I have high expectations for her."
"Today I met with the student at the library to help her with her assignments for this week. By the end of this long session, we completed a review of all the assignments she has due this week. First, we reviewed a worksheet based off a textbook reading, two article readings, and a few online videos. The topics dealt with diet, the fuel used in aerobic exercise (cellular respiration), and anaerobic respiration (fermentation). Second, we reviewed a 13-question quiz on the same readings. Lastly, she created an ideal diet and tracked how it directly impacts the metabolism mechanisms for her weekly discussion post and replied to at least 1 other student's post."
"Today we covered lessons 12 and 13 in the student's program. She did well today. She took notes and appeared to understand the concepts we covered. I asked her to fill in a few lines on the notes I sent her from the session, so I will check for them tomorrow. She promised to complete the rest of her modules by tonight, so that she can complete her test tomorrow and her final exam Wednesday."
"Today we worked through Topics 2-4, covering diffusion, osmosis, osmoregulation, parts of the cell and their functions, and the cell cycle, including mitosis and meiosis. The student has completed all of the exams associated with these topics, and has completed all six assignments for these topics as well."
