"The student and I started diving deeper into the specific topics today. We started with a little work on matrices. He picked up on it quickly and we will keep working on it until I feel he has a very good grasp. We spent the rest of the time on the English and Reading sections. He got nearly all of the English questions right and quickly corrected his mistakes. There is still room for improvement on the Reading, mainly with identifying the main themes and topics. We will continue working on this in our next session and he is planning on doing a full practice test before our next meeting."
"The student's scores are steadily increasing, so that's been rewarding week to week. We went over the rest of her past exam as well as an English section she did for homework, and it was pretty clear that her main issue was with complete sentences, usually involving answer choices with varied punctuation and word choices, so that some left the sentence as either a fragment or a run on. We discussed how to recognize these sentences, and the student understood her initial errors. She knows the flags now, so it'll be easier for her to spot those and pay more careful attention to identifying the independent and dependent clauses. We will continue to practice these in our future sessions."
"Introduction to ACT: went through several sections with timing. This is the student's first experience with the ACT, but she did well!"
