Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we moved on to the next homework. The material has not been covered in class yet, but I think we were able to identify what needs to be done and go through some examples. I am going to find some practice problems that mirror the homework for our next session on Thursday,"
"The student and I worked through 90 grammar questions with an emphasis on noun verb agreement, prepositional phrases, unclear antecedents, and paragraph flow. She did well on the majority of these questions, although she struggled some with placement of prepositional phrases."
"The student and I worked through a reading and writing practice test. She is doing really well in reading. She says she feels more confident now. Writing is a little iffier, so we will continue to do that and math."
"The student and I worked through example reading and math problems for this session. We discussed best practice tips for taking the exam itself. She is really well prepared for the content side of the exam, and I recommended she focus more on taking full length math and reading sections so she can work on maintaining focus for reading and time management for math. I think she's there on the content side though and will be well prepared in time for the test in October! One math section and one reading section (with all 4-6 passages and answers) each week would be ideal."
"The student and I worked through more figural sections, and he's doing a good job coming up with the different patterns for the different sections. We then switched to sentence completions, since he needs to continue to work on vocabulary."
"The student and I worked through the Calculator section of an SAT Math practice test together. As before, many of the problems that seemed intimidating at first became much simpler when we broke them down together. We specifically reviewed quadratic equations, factoring, and absolute value. At our next session, I would like to start doing portions of the Math section with a time limit, to start practicing timing."
