Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I focused on the logic games. I went over basic strategy for the entire section, and then illustrated using a number or practice problems. I also explained ways that he can save time on this section by doing hypothetical questions first, and making deductions in the initial stages of the game. Finally, I sent him a great deal of practice material he can use ahead of our next session."
"The student had done a section of logical reasoning. We analyzed the questions she missed, and found she's having trouble with inference and paradox questions. We walked through the method to approach these types, and did several examples. Above all, her main issue is giving herself the time to parse the information she reads. This coming week, she's going to do a practice test and focus on finishing the lesson book material on LR questions."
"The student has excellent study habits, which will serve him well. He needs additional diagramming practice and could improve his paraphrasing skills. He has most of the basics down, which is a positive. Next session I will need to see his problems with reading comprehension and might get to his basic logic games technique."
"The student has made good progress on logic games. The one difficult kind of question is the one about replacement of conditions. He should be able to show that the answer choice condition is equivalent to the condition he is given. For reading comprehension, he needs to pay close attention to the language of the passage and see how it tallies with the answer choices. Logical Reasoning is similar. He should make sure he analyzes what he is given thoroughly. That'll tell you what sort of thing to look for."
"The student has made great progress in RC and LR, especially in LR as she has understood a lot of the concepts from the logic class she is currently taking. Still having more trouble on logic games, and we will focus on this area a lot more heavily in the future. She will finish classes in a few weeks and will have more time to review then."
"You're doing a really great job keeping up so far. Remember for next time, if you're rushing through to get all of the math done, try doing every other problem instead of all of them. I think you'll benefit a lot more from making a habit of pausing and checking your answers than just getting through all of the problems. Be sure to keep working with the vocab (making flashcards and reviewing them) and I'll see you Wednesday."
