Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Our session was much like our last one, in which I helped the student review an online homework assignment regarding percentages. Percentages were just a part of the assignment, as the goal of the assignment was to teach exponential functions. After a few questions, I devised a formula that would help, and she immediately gained understanding and said that was just what she needed. We worked through the rest of the assignment using the formulas I had written and she was able to do much of it on her own. "
"Overall, it was a really great lesson! We started off by covering some questions from class, including ones that involved applying the product and quotient rules. Afterwards we moved on to limits, in particular focusing on using the fact that limx-o of sin(x)/x = 1. We did several examples with this piece of information as our primary rule. It was a pleasure to work with her, and I look forward to tutoring her in the future."
"Review homework mixture of calculus, and business problems. The student just needs clarification that her thinking is right, which is right most of the time. Just a few hiccups on understanding what problems are asking, not necessarily major ideas. She got a 95 on her test!! Definitely seeing strides and confidence in understanding."
"Review of several problems involving estimating periodic function equations based on textual descriptions of sinusoidal variability of data, as well as a few other examples on functions and sequential application of functions on functions."
"She and I covered a homework set of problems focused on finding relative minimums and maximums, intervals of increase or decrease. She and I have really started focusing on the algebraic/execution side of calculus, and she is showing real signs of improvement and understanding."
"She and I reviewed for her calculus quiz. We went over finding extreme values, inflection points and sketching the graph. Then, we started going over Chapter 11: Vibrations and Waves in her physics book. We only had time to cover section one, so I told her that I would send her my notes, and we would continue with the content tomorrow."
