Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session the student and I were working on the concept that the integral of a rate is a total amount. For example the integral of the rate of water flowing through a pipe is the amount of water that flowed through the pipe. With more practice he will become more understanding regarding this concept. I suggested that he practice more between now and our next session."
"We went over the major points of sections 11.2, 11.3, and 11.4 together. I left the student to do the odd ones on her own for practice. 11.3, dealing with Independent and Dependent Events, and 11.4, dealing with Compound Events, were advanced, and we found ourselves having to go at a slower pace to make sure we covered it all correctly. I shared certain strategies with her (using the complement, Venn Diagram, charts, reasoning through a problem, etc.) to help her more accurately attempt these problems. The practice I left her with were the odd problems in both of those sections, as well as an additional sheet of probability problems. I also made her a makeshift study guide in case she has a quiz on this material before our next session."
"We went over movement of a particle and different ways to use the integral. The student was working hard to cover the concepts and understands the foundation of the material. I asked her to keep working so that we can be done before she takes a formal practice test."
"During our session today, we went over exponential and logarithmic functions. The student just need some clarification. We went over some logarithmic properties and then worked on a few practice problems to apply these concepts. He has some more problems to go through, along with additional trigonometry practice problems for next time."
"The student and I reviewed her homework and packet from school, which covered the integration of polynomials that require the solving of partial fractions. She showed great understanding of the material after we went over a question together. She clearly is quick on the uptake. I left her with extra practice along with her homework from school, which she seemed very comfortable solving. She shows great knowledge as well as a great attitude toward learning which are great assets. All in all, it was a good session."
"Today, we went over a variety of topics to help the student study for her test this Wednesday. She seemed to have a good handle on the product rule and quotient rule and is doing much better with the natural log and e. We have another session planned for Tuesday to prepare for the exam."
