Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered hypothesis testing. The student was having trouble with defining a null and alternate hypothesis. The student continues to struggle with word problems. I gave the student several pointers on how to break down word problems. We worked through several examples so that he would become more comfortable when solving word problems. I told him to make flashcards and become more familiar with the equations before our next session."
"We covered logistic and linear regression, MANOVA, various types of data (quantitative and qualitative), and descriptive statistics population (histograms, mean, median, and mode). We also went over parameters (population proportion, mean, standard deviation, and variance), hypothesis testing (z-statistic, t-statistic, and nonparametric), and dimensional reduction of variables (collinearity). Lastly, we discussed general experimental design (comparing like groups, confounding, and sample size) and cross validation (take part of data and model, then check with other part of the data)."
"We covered mean, median, and standard deviation calculations. The student needed help with the standard deviation, but only because it was new and there are a lot of steps in that calculation. His attitude was excellent!"
"We covered population and sampling distribution and sample error. I went over the student's Excel homework and workbook questions by providing procedure and formula guidance and answering questions."
"We covered probability problems with combinatorics and probability given events already happened. We went through questions, and we will review everything tomorrow before the student takes her chapter 4 quiz."
"We covered regression interpretation and calculating residuals. The student struggled mostly with conceptual problems and how to do material on calculator. His attitude was great; positive outlook. He was very forthcoming and communicative. My strategy is to meet the student half-way and let them figure the rest out. I left the student to do an LSR problem. I definitely saw some progress in understanding material. He made progress in understanding and applying material."
