Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished some logarithm topics including logarithm equations. After doing some practice problems, we moved on to radian measure/unit circle, arc length, and sector area. The student continues to advance rapidly."
"We finished the last half of the practice test and went over a few practice examples of each topic. We had to review a few algebraic properties, specifically simplifying with division and working with fractions. Quadratics still seem a bit foreign and are a lot to work with at the moment, but the student is becoming a lot more comfortable with systems of equations/area and perimeter problems. I will be sending him some homework to keep him fresh for next session. As long as he attempts the problems, I think that will provide a very good jumping off point to really hone in on the skills he has forgotten."
"We finished the student's midterm review today and focused on problems that she struggled with. We really buckled down on isolating a single variable from a given equation, since that will be the basis of a lot of problems."
"We finished up the last of the homework and started with some word problem strategy and review. The last of the homework was concerned with optimization of area problems that were quite challenging. I reviewed how we have approached word problems and worked on adding to our strategy for these optimization problems."
"We finished up the student's current module for Algebra, which covered radicals and how to simplify them. After that, we studied for her upcoming Astronomy exam later this week. The exam covers the moon, Mercury, and Venus; planetary geology; the greenhouse effect; and impact craters."
"We finished up the student's first chapter. We then reviewed the direct method and proportion method when solving word-problems involving rates. He was able to maintain focus throughout the session."
