Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished her decimals homework. She needed a little help visualizing the moving decimal in the answers but eventually got it. Her pre-test that we went over scared me a little. When it was just her and me, she solved them again correctly with little or no help. I wonder if she might have test anxiety or frustration. I will bring more help so she can read word problems and understand what they are asking her to do. We finished the session by talking about and playing a game with Newton's Three Laws of Motion."
"We finished up fractions by reviewing various fraction concepts, and then having him practice them to ensure he remembers what we learned. He did great! We will continue to review them, but he overall knows how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators, simplify fractions, and add/subtract/multiply/divide mixed numbers."
"We focused on math word problems and some advanced math problems. The student made a large leap from our last session to the present session. He has clearly benefited from our sessions and his at home practice! Way to go!! I am so proud of him and his hard work! The student was so positive about the material and was eager to learn and advance his skills! Positive reinforcement and applied the techniques to problem solving was used in all our previous sessions. No concerns. Huge wins from his advancement! He has clearly bridged the gap, from when we first started, to where he is now! I am so impressed by this young man and hope to continue in this direction to enrich his education and keep him ahead of the game! I am so proud of this young man!"
"We focused on rounding to the nearest tens', thousands', and ten thousands' place, we additionally worked on three digit to one digit multiplication. He does an excellent job, handling difficult information and pushing through when he is confused or struggling with a question. He is doing a great job handling rounding up or down to the nearest place value."
"We focused once again on the student's weekly math homework, with special attention given to multiplying multiple digit numbers. The student showed some growth in his multiplication fluency, and continues to show good use of strategies and foundational understanding of math concepts. He made real progress in multiplying by tens to solve problems like 80x6 by doing 8x6x10. We discussed looking at some test prep in the upcoming weeks as well as how he is lacking the confidence in multiplication and division that allow him to dig in and use his strong thinking and problem solving skills to solve those questions in the ways he is able to solve other challenges."
"We had a wonderful session. I could tell that both students have worked really hard this week to complete their assignments. They were happy to share with me that they received A's on their journal writings for this week. I am very proud to hear this news!! We covered multiplying by 2's in math, we reviewed their spelling list 7 and the both scored A's on a practice Spelling Test! We practiced our multiplication fluency also. Great attitudes towards learning today!"
