Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I prepared for his upcoming quiz this Monday. He just started a new chapter and had a lot of new concepts to cover regarding 3D graphing and plotting points in the XYZ plane. Additionally, we did work problems related to graphing points on spheres and circles and finding radii. He did well on his most recent exam and seems to be understanding the material well. At the end of the session, we quickly reviewed a few concepts for his biology class. He has a quiz this Friday on muscle groups and functions so we briefly reviewed that material as well."
"The student's class has moved into working with trigonometric identities. The algebra of these proofs can be very tricky so I supported her as she started to get the hang of it. I recommended that she practice, using the problems in section 8.1 of her textbook until she develops a good feel for these kinds of problems. Will review trigonometric identities the next time I see her."
"The student and I worked through both physics and pre-calculus. In physics we worked on current, resistance, and voltage in circuits both parallel and in series. He felt fine with complicated circuits after we worked through them. We then spent time going over all different types of graphing and what inverses of those graphs look like. We talked about the vertical and then horizontal line test."
"Caught up on all Pre-Calc topics from missing one week of classes and prepared for exam. Introduced concept of polar coordinates, and conversion from x, y coordinate functions to r. Also reviewed Pythagorean trigonometric identities to solve equations and solving of trig functions as it relates to unit circle."
"During our session, the student and I worked on finding the roots/zeros of polynomial functions using several different tests. I did not see any concrete scores/grades during my visit. The student did say that he did well on his last physics test and was understanding the current physics material well so we would not need to go over it."
"The student completed 2 test reviews and I believe that she is well prepared for her exam on trigonometric identities. Later, I worked with her on chemical gas laws. The student had questions about partial pressures and gas effusion rates, and was completely clear on it by the end of our session."
