Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student completed an exercise from the textbook involving fill-ins and relative pronouns--que, lo que, quien(es). The student also translated the sentences, demonstrating considerable improvement in terms of decoding."
"Last night, the student and I reviewed the future perfect tense and how to make comparisons using "mas que", "menos que", and "tan como". We also continued with reading comprehension and learned new vocabulary words."
"In this session we worked on vocabulary recognition and vocabulary practice. During the first half we reviewed chapter vocabulary words orally, and then we reviewed a homework assignment inserting vocabulary words into a sentence."
"The student and I had a wonderful first session together. We reviewed sections 1-3 in chapter 8, which focused on the conditional tense, past subjunctive tense, and the use of "if clauses". He told me that he was mostly confused about when and why to use these tenses. They are very similar so I do understand his confusion. We did some exercises in his book and I gave him lots of practice questions orally. He is very good at reading, vocabulary, translating, and conjugating. I think he was a bit confused with how similar these new concepts were, which lead to a poor score on his unit test. He did great though, and I think he feels a lot more confident in his abilities for his test tomorrow."
"We covered learning skills, an online blogging assignment, verb conjugation, meaning and uses of personal pronouns, translating techniques, and content research in Spanish. No grades for now."
"We went over second declension masculine adjectives and then did some practice with Latin to English sentence practice. I have been giving both students a lot of notes and a lot to memorize lately, because once we have the basics of Latin covered, we can start to look at stories. For next week, I would love to begin working on simple stories in Latin. I recommend that the both of them study their vocabulary and paradigms."
