Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, the student and I completed math practice involving systems of equations using elimination. We created a step by step checklist for use by him as he learns to solve these equations. He completed practice equations independently. He was left with practice equations to complete and that will be reviewed in the next tutoring session. He was quite proud that he gained a firmer grasp on the process and could confidently complete the equations independently at the close of the session!"
"The student had just taken a test and concluded a chapter. We reviewed histograms, stem and leaf plots, simplifying fractions, finding equivalent fractions, reading line and bar graphs, finding the volume of a shape, and understanding what a three dimensional shape looks like from any given side."
"The student and I worked further on her algebra 2 homework and her chemistry homework. For algebra, we worked on solving complex rational systems of equations and for chemistry we worked on problems involving the ideal gas laws. She did all her homework and seemed to understand the material pretty well."
"Good session. Discussed basic curve sketching for trigonometric functions. Discussed graphs of the form y=a*sin(bx) and y=a*cos(bx). Nice work!"
"We went over the student's goals for tutoring and what material she wanted to cover for her Calculus 2 exam. We then went over the definitions of sequence and series, what it means for a sequence to converge (or diverge), what it means for a series to converge, the Basic Divergence Test and examples, the Harmonic Series, the Integral Test (and examples of how to use it), Geometric Series, P-series, the Direct Comparison Test, and the Limit Comparison Test."
"I discussed non-parametric tests with the student, including the Chi-Squared test for one and two treatments. We went over some examples and discussed a presentation the student is working on involving repeated measures on factor ANOVA testing."
