Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on homemade flashcards that had single-syllable words that either were similar to "cat" and "hat" or different. We worked on recognizing the sounds different letters make and how to sound out a word to be able to read it. We also did numbers exercises in a numbers book. We used the large ABC cards and the student matched up words on the flashcards with the large cards based on the first letter of each word. He also learned to write a few "D" words without the help of tracing them first. We read the "E" book. I will exchange books at the library and bring some alphabet and phonics flash cards for our next sessions."
"We spent the session typing the student's biography assignment on Tutankhamen, after a brief lesson on complete sentences. We covered sentence structure and punctuation, which the student did not seem to ever formally learn, but is apprehending quickly."
"This 1.0 hour session focused on reviewing the student's homework. We worked on the next packet that the student was assigned. The student was completing sentences and decoding vocabulary from an assigned list. The remainder of the session was spent helping the student develop his reading skills. The student selected a book at his age level to read. He read 5 pages from a selected book. The next session is scheduled for Jan 28th."
