Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed his basic math test results to see what areas he needs help in. The goal is to ensure that he is at grade level and then advance him to two grades beyond. We reviewed his homework for school, volume conversions and distance conversions. He is to complete his homework before I meet with him tomorrow. We will review it and then work on decimals because this, along with measurements is what he is working on at school."
"We covered rational equations - specifically factoring and simplification. He showed gradual improvement throughout the session and maintained a positive and enthusiastic attitude regarding the material. I included a few ideas regarding study habits that are good to nurture and develop."
"In this first session the student and I discussed what she hopes to learn in tutoring and what her class is about. Then we went over variable level of measurement, mean median and mode, symmetrical distribution, and skewness. We also covered how to decide when to use the different measures of central tendency."
"Overview of BC calculus and we decided what we need to cover. We also studied for the student's next exam on the second fundamental theorem of calculus."
"We created an answer key for a Trigonometry exam. We also did a review of proofs with another student. Will administer exam this week after review."
"Yesterday, we looked at circles, particularly how to find the center and radius of a circle given the endpoints of the diameter of the circle. We used the midpoint formula to find the center of the circle, and then we used the distance formula to find the length of the radius between one endpoint and the center of the circle. The student had done her completing the squares to find the standard form of a circle problems very well. Given the center and radius, she graphed the circle also very well. I am looking forward to our next session."
