Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we worked on science and math. To begin, we studied for her science test on earthquakes. She was able to communicate almost all the information perfectly. Then, we did practice math problems for her quiz."
"Has a test over logarithms and exponents tomorrow. Went over his test review. Spent most time on word problems we haven't done much of the last couple of weeks, also reviewed some of the concepts he wanted to cover, like expanding and contracting logarithmic expressions. Good job overall."
"We went through questions from her workbook. I asked her to continue doing her workbook problems, but more slowly, showing her work as she does the problems. I look forward to working with her again."
"The student has his standardized math exams this week, so during this session he completed a timed practice exam on his own. I gave him about two minutes per problem, and at the end I checked his answers and we went through each question together. One strategy I suggested for the word problems was to underline all the numbers and their respective units in the problem as he reads along, to make sure he sees all the important information. This strategy seemed to work for him. He has done very well over the time I've tutored him. I am positive he will do well on his exams."
"Today the student had a test in Math and she informed me that the class will be switching to a new book sometime this week. Because of this, we spent today as a review. We spent 45 minutes working on solving two step one variable problems with fractions, whole numbers, and decimals. She did really good on these today. We spent the last 45 minutes working on percentage problems, word problems dealing with tax, and finding the range of a data set. Overall the session was a good one."
"We went over two step equations and PEMDAS equations because she was having a bit of difficulty. Towards the end of the session, she became more confident in the order of operations. We also did more test prep today because she mentioned her state test was similar to the one we practiced yesterday."
