Math Tutoring review by Raymond in Everett, WA
We worked "parameterized EQNs and integration". In particular, recognition of completing the square with the quadratic root formula, Sin (t)Cos(2t) etc. ~= Sin(3t) was a critical recognition in one integration. I've asked the student to reread Conic Sections, Parameterized Curves, and Polar Coordinates again for grounding. And the Change of Variables, pg 740 u = Cos(t/2). This recommendation is result of his challenge with the problems. I'm also doing research for him, with his agreement to book time against his payment.

The student took an assessment test for middle school math. She needs help with some of the concepts covered in seventh grade. Specifically, she struggled with calculating percentages, solving equations with variables and identifying the questions asked in word problems. We also went over her homework. She was able to apply the order of operations and simplify algebraic expressions.

The student was working on Homework #4 (determining domain and range) and Homework #5 (graphing a sign test). We went through the entire homeworks, and then I wrote her a practice homework with parallel problems for each homework. She understood it much better after we did the practice homework.

Math Tutoring review by Chelsey in Everett, WA
The student and I went over his recent test (vectors, planes, equations of spheres, point/plane equations). We worked on a problem (hyperbolic integrals) that required a lot of multiplication and simplifying--writing a (+) on one portion changed the answer slightly, but we found that it was the only error.

Math Tutoring review by Paul in Everett, WA
Session 9/9 5:30 - 6:30 The student's focus of the session concerned properties of straight lines. In particular we spent time on finding both x and y intercepts using the general slope-intercept form of the straight line equation. We also clarified the usage of determination of the straight line equation given either two points or a single point and the slope. There were a few problems that involved finding equations given a parallel or perpendicular equation - the student was able to do this type without help. He also was adept at converting the graph of the line to the equation of the line. We did have a set of problems that required a detailed reading of the instructions in order to complete the exercise. This proved to be a good point of learning. Again, he was very well prepared on what we needed to work on this session.

Math Tutoring review by Emma in Everett, WA
The student and I worked through several pages of his summer math packet. We stopped to discuss concepts he was unfamiliar with. He is quick to learn new concepts. We are planning to finish the summer packet during our next session, and then go back and revisit some concepts that gave him trouble.
