Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on his online work. He still sometimes has trouble with finding the x and y intercepts but he is doing much better than he was before. He is steadily improving. He should work on solving equations, finding the axis, and finding b (the y intercept) particularly using the slope-intercept formula."
"The and I worked on her math homework (division). We went through long division, basic algebra (division problems with a variable answer), and word problems. At the end, we practiced a couple more division problems to make sure it made sense."
"The student and I worked on a homework assignment that involves multiplying multiple numbers. She understands the concept very well! We focused on learning the 6 and 7 facts so that she is able to complete her homework. She promised to practice more this week, and her family has agreed to help quiz her with the flashcards."
"During this session, I worked with the student on how to combine like terms and use the distributive property. He has a good understanding of the concepts involved. He completed his homework worksheet and I gave him a few extra problems as practice. I worked with him on percents, specifically how to use percents to solve word problems and read a chart."
"The student and I had a productive session. We did a detail review of her math homework, which consisted of sample two-step equations in preparation for the quiz coming up. Topics reviewed included: order of operation, adding and subtracting positive and negative integers (spent significant amount of time here), combining like terms/simplifying equations, and solving two-step equations. She seemed to advance significantly in the session. She seemed to better understand two-step equations and she also improved in asking for clarification, being more willing to admit what she didn't understand. We developed some effective tools to understand concepts and to double check for mistakes on her quiz. Great session."
"The student and I finished reviewing her trig and statistics material. Some of the specific areas we covered include the law of sines formula, double angle identities, angle sum/difference identities, regression equations for a scatter plot, and number summaries of a data set. Just as the last session, she was able to recall a majority of the material with ease. Her attitude was positive and productive."
