Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on a lot of integration by partial fractions and trig substitution problems. The student and I went through her notes and talked about the general method. Then we went through some of the problems on the practice exam using partial fractions along with a few questions from the book. Then we worked on a few practice problems using trig substitution for integration."
"Today both girls were working on systems of equations and solving using addition and elimination and substitution. They both understand the concepts pretty well. Student 1 also had a physics test over vertical and horizontal aspects of acceleration and velocity, so we worked through a few practice problems there."
"The student and I went through his test review homework. He knows how to graph a given function. Conversely, we went over steps to finding the functions from a given graph. We also went over piece wise functions. This a bit tricky to explain, but i think he gets a general idea. Also, he needs more practice with converting a quadratic equation into its standard/vertex form."
"The student got prepared for her Algebra test next week. Today, we inspected her last quiz, corrected for the mistakes, and checked possible roots of errors. We reviewed all the chapters, including problematic questions about real world problems, minimization, maximization, and solving 3 parameter systems of equation. It was a great session! :)"
"Tonight, I helped the student work on a review assignment for his upcoming test over polar-rectangular coordinates and complex numbers. As before, his biggest struggle is memory; he understands the concepts and uses the formulas correctly, but he forgets what the formulas are. Fortunately, the heavy practice tonight helped improve the student's memory."
"Finished reading our second book; practiced math addition facts. The student is to continue at home practice with math flash cards."
