Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"MCAT Verbal reasoning. Continued improvement in her approach to questions, parsing them and finding answers. I left her with three new passages and seven that we have reviewed. Each of them has questions. She is coming along well."
"In this session, the student and I worked through a random sampling of test questions. We used these questions to talk about general concepts in addition to the answering the question. Some example topics included calcium's role in muscle contraction and how action potential contributes to this, solubility constants and how to use the equation to find pKa and pH."
"We went over some verbal passages, and since she's finding the passages on historical events and literary works to be an area to cover further, I recommended that she create a practice verbal test for herself by grouping together passages. The student seems ready to go for her test!"
"We covered relevant topics from organic chemistry and physics. I took note of the student's performance on selected practice problems to quantify any increase in understanding. I left the student to review what we discussed, and to move forward into carboxylic acid derivatives. I have no concerns or other comments."
"We reviewed test-taking and time management strategies, particularly focusing on the verbal section. We also briefly discussed various specific content areas by going over the questions she missed on three recent practice tests. She has improved a great deal, both in content mastery and test-taking efficiency. She will continue to review content of which she is less certain, particularly within physics, and take practice exams periodically."
"Tonight, the student and I worked on Logic Games. He'd done a couple of sections recently, and we used those to discuss some finer points of games theory. This included how to extend numbers deductions in limited selection scenarios and how to hybridize a sketch for a hybrid game."
