Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I had the student run through an entire test in order to experience the timing of the exam. I emphasized the importance of pacing. Her writing seems to have improved. I left her with tips and some reading to prepare for her testing this Saturday."
"Focused on the Math section of the exam, focusing predominantly on fractions and percents. We also did a general review of the various types of problems that may be present on the test."
"Today we worked on quantitative reasoning. The student seems to struggle with this the most and has problems with making assumptions instead of working through problems. We also worked on Reading Comprehension, which was fine. For homework, I have assigned him to review math concepts and the problems that we have worked on for further clarification."
"In my session with the student, we began with a warm up practice test. We then reviewed the warm up, which focused on solving problems with percents and mean, median, mode, and range. Her foundation for mathematics seems solid, however, we focus our sessions on the importance of checking work, taking care to check for errors, and showing one's work. Following the warm up, we looked at coordinate geometry, focusing primarily on points and slopes. While working with coordinate geometry, we also focused on adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing negative numbers. I left her with homework in several areas."
"The student began the process of developing her writing skills by writing an intro to a story. We will continue to develop this story at the next session. She also communicated her understanding of editing and the purpose for editing."
"During Saturday's session, an in-depth review of algebraic expressions and equations was pursued in order to strengthen and augment the student's abilities with the concept. Didactic and problem-based learning methods were used to comprehensively review, reflect, and learn from practice. A variety of other techniques, such as Role Modeling, were employed to harness her energies and strengths and surmount readily preventable errors. Overall, she made marked progress and was assigned additional homework to follow-up on her session."
