Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student requested an extra study session this weekend in preparation for her Spanish exam coming up this Wednesday. We were able to complete and/or review most of her study guide as well as answer some lingering questions she had in regards to grammar rules and irregular verbs."
"Client wanted assistance in completing three worksheets. They dealt with: 1) the subjunctive conjugation of "nosotros"; 2) combining the subjunctive nosotros with direct reflexive pronouns; and 3) practicing vocabulary dealing with friendship. The worksheets used vocabulary that Client had not seen in a while and he struggled with basic words such as "some" and "things." Client's test (a major oral/written exam) is coming up, and he may want some assistance in preparing for it. It is my understanding that in such an exam, students write a few paragraphs in Spanish and are then subject to an oral defense of their writing."
"The student completed a practice exam in preparation for the Spanish exam. I allowed him 20 minutes to practice each section. He was able to complete almost the entirety of each section in the allotted time. Following each section, we reviewed best practices for test taking. He has the exam this week and I am confident he will do a great job."
"The student has a vocabulary test on Thursday, which we reviewed for this evening. Although she got a little rusty over spring break on that vocabulary, she warmed back up fine. I have found that she memorized words much better when she can pronounce them confidently, so I helped her with syllabic breakdowns of the more difficult ones. On Thursday we're going to get in to some remedial grammar work."
"In this session we practiced vocabulary and verbs related to TV shows and TV programming. First we practiced a brief conversation about TV shows popular for teens, and later we reviewed written examples and wrote sentences to describe TV programs."
"The session went well. Next week she has her final, so we went over the grammar and explained the different forms of verbs and how to use them. We reviewed all the major grammar material that she has done this semester. I suggested that she keeps going to the language lab to practice the listening comprehension; that will be part of her final."
