Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I concentrated on math review, as she will be taking the state test this coming week. Specifically, we reviewed geometry (angles and volume of 3D shapes), probability, solving two-step algebraic equations, and plotting points on coordinate graphs. She was feeling confident about the upcoming test, and worked hard throughout the session. We will not be meeting next week, but plan to pick up on 11/2 for entrance exam tutoring."
"The student is beginning to effectively use the strategy tools I've taught her: sketching every problem on her own, referencing textbook by index, and using brainstorming. I believe that she is starting to show signs of independence from needing me specifically for geometry. I've asked her to form any other goals we'd like to meet during tutoring to maximize the time we spend together. Next session I expect to see all of the strategy tools used to present questions she may have. Current subjects include use of congruent triangles formed with tangents to circles, similar triangles formed by chords within circles, algebraic expressions, and word problem English to math translations."
"We reviewed 3 quizzes, in addition to the student's typical homework. We spent most of the session reviewing equivalent fractions. He seems to be struggling with fractions, in general, so his mother has asked me to conduct a session on this topic Thursday."
"The student and I worked on reading comprehension today. He was much more focused today and was able to do a great job on the reading comp that we did. He should be able to do this well on test day!"
"We covered the simple, and compound verbs. We practiced conjugation and also worked on some geometry problems. She has been improving very quickly. I left many verbs for her to practice conjugations, and identifications."
